Teacher Summer Workshop: Responding to Your Professional Development Needs
St. Cloud State University is hosting a teacher conference on June 8, 2006 in Atwood Center from 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. The conference entitled “You Asked For It! Responding to your Professional Development Needs” will include keynote speaker, Mark Scharenbroich, and over thirty breakout sessions.
Scharenbroich is a nationally known Emmy and Silver Screen Award winner who delivers an inspirational keynote message with humor. Scharenbroich’s address will focus on Improving Performance by Improving School Climate. Two breakout sessions will also be conduct by Scharenbroich.
Breakout sessions will focus on four strands that were developed based on an online survey with over 1000 Minnesota teachers. The four breakout strands are 1) Best Instructional Practice in Reading and Writing, 2) Recognizing/Responding to Student Mental Health Issues, 3) Best Instructional Practices in Math, and 4) General Interest.
Sessions in the four strand areas will be conducted by local and state presenters in the education and mental health fields. Vendors will be displayed throughout the day and lunch is included in the registration fee.
The conference is being sponsored by the Teacher Quality Enhancement Grant Partnership with St. Cloud State University and area school districts. Registration is $25 for teachers from partnering school districts (Albany, Becker, Buffalo, Dassel-Cokato, Kimball, Monticello, Rocori, St. Cloud Area, Sartell-St. Stephen and Sauk Rapids-Rice) and $40 for all other teachers.
